scheme to help jobless

A new scheme designed to give unemployed people the skills they need to return to work has launched at Milton Keynes college. Workability MK has been unveiled just when the jobless figures top 2.47 million. This level has been the highest since 1995. Dozens of unemployed people have signed up within weeks of its launch. Milton Keynes college are manager for community projects Gina Reily said it has been more important than ever for people to get the advice, training and qualifications they need to put themselves in the right position for employment in the city. Workability MK developed by the college in partnership with Job centre Plus and the learning and skills council is for over_25s who have been claiming job seekers allowance for six months or more. Part of the new training programme gives people free access to part time training and skills course while they can still claim benefits. There are specific courses to address skills gaps that have been identified locally in the areas like customer service, construction and childcare. The course should go along way to help people.

Leadership in MK

Milton Keynes needs strong leadership says Philip Smith. The future of Mk needs better transport links and improved communications networks was said by the senior business leaders . They have called for a venture fund to invest in local businesses as they continue to grow. They were responding to a questionnaire circulated back in August By Andrew Peck the business representative on M K P. The survey addressed the problems of infrastructure, planning around the local skills and growth of the city as a whole. it was mentioned that the regional shopping centre was crucial for some action to be taken with these issues as t provides plenty of jobs in Milton Keynes. Business needs structure and consistency with clear leadership in these times. Together we make up 75% of businesses in MK and collectively they are fully prepared to work together with MKP and others.
