A new scheme designed to give unemployed people the skills they need to return to work has launched at Milton Keynes college. Workability MK has been unveiled just when the jobless figures top 2.47 million. This level has been the highest since 1995. Dozens of unemployed people have signed up within weeks of its launch. Milton Keynes college are manager for community projects Gina Reily said it has been more important than ever for people to get the advice, training and qualifications they need to put themselves in the right position for employment in the city. Workability MK developed by the college in partnership with Job centre Plus and the learning and skills council is for over_25s who have been claiming job seekers allowance for six months or more. Part of the new training programme gives people free access to part time training and skills course while they can still claim benefits. There are specific courses to address skills gaps that have been identified locally in the areas like customer service, construction and childcare. The course should go along way to help people.

Together we make up 75% of businesses in MK and collectively they are fully prepared to work together with MKP and others.

Finding the right job

Looking for a job can sometimes be a bit daunting if you are not sure what you are looking for. In the early years after you have just left college or schooling the job you sometimes hoped you would get does not appear to be on the horizon. Many take what job they can in the meantime, either waiting on tables or working in a local supermarket just to make the ends meet until the right prospect comes along.
The problem is many people get stuck where they are and as long as the money is coming in they tend not to venture to far away from what they are now doing. The hope of the new career starts to dwindle as other things take over such as family and relationships and before they know it, the career they originally trained for has not materialized and they have ventured into something completely different.
